19th Century Experience
The Wall Paintings Workshop has been responsible for restoring a number of prestigious 19th century schemes, many of which were badly deteriorated and at risk of loss.

The 19th century is notable for the resurgence in ecclesiastical painting, much of it brought about by the efforts of inspired figures such as Augustus Welby Pugin, whose house, The Grange, has recently been restored with the help of our conservators. Extensive losses of the scheme by AO Hemming at St Marys, Cromford were painstakingly reconstructed in another major restoration. Unusual works, such as the sgraffito scheme by Heywood Sumner at St. Augustines, Portsmouth, are also tackled.
